Development work for the first project, academic scheduling software, began in 1997. On 15 February 2000, the business was registered under its current name, Automated Scheduling, in Monroe County, New York. Automated Scheduling^TM is offers an unparalleled academic scheduling service and has customers in the Rochester, New York and Boston areas. Currently, Automated Scheduling^TM has its headquarters in the Albany, New York area.

The Founder and CEO of Automated Scheduling is Richard D. Hamlin, a graduate of MIT and UC-Berkeley.
